Amachi is a Nigerian Ebo word which means, “Who knows but what God has brought us through this child.”  The children in this program are at-risk children with special emphasis on children affected by incarceration in their families and communities.  PLF offers Amachi by looking to form partnerships with 20 churches, civic organizations, businesses colleges and universities that are willing to help us find volunteers that will help transform the lives of these children.

We are also looking for organizations that will help us find children and families that want and need mentors.  We are looking to make 450 matches over the next two years.

All volunteers are asked to spend at least 4 hours a month with a child and commit to doing this for one year.  These meetings can be somewhere in the community, at a school or at a site like a church or community center.  All volunteers are required to complete a PA State Police Check, a PA Child Abuse Clearance Check and a 2 hour orientation/training session.  We will also be conducting face-to-face interviews with all volunteers.  There will be periodic evaluations of the program during the year and we will be asking for your participation in this process.
